Program Inpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Facilities:

Inpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Facilities

  • Description:

Treatment and specialized services at McPike ATC are clinically driven based on individual patient needs and problems and involve a full range of services as part of a comprehensive program to assist the person in the recovery process.

There are a variety of services to attend any patient’s specific needs, including:

    • The McPike ATC Dual Recovery Program utilizes a holistic approach which includes detailed assessment, management of presenting psychiatric symptoms, development, and practice of effective sobriety-enhancing and emotional coping skills. A 12 Step approach which includes both traditional AA and Dual Recovery Anonymous meetings, education regarding chemical dependence and psychiatric disorders, dual recovery group therapy, goal-setting, and continuing care planning addressing both chemical dependency and psychiatric issues.

    • The Women's Program was developed to meet the needs of women in treatment. Women's specific clinical activities include the Recovery Group, Women's Issues Group, and the Women's Wing Meeting. These groups allow our female patients to attend clinical activities which address major issues and the special needs of chemically dependent women, providing education, and peer interaction/discussion. These groups provide a safe forum for women to explore and gain insight into the impact these issues have had on their disease and recovery process and assist women in familiarizing themselves with resources available to address issues as part of continuing care.

•McPike ATC is a tobacco-free ATC. Patients are assessed for nicotine dependence and if appropriate, provided with Nicotine Replacement Therapy in accordance with the current American Psychiatric Association Practice Guidelines. In addition, staff engages patients to help them learn about the relationship of tobacco to their other drugs of abuse, and to help them develop recovery plans that will lead them to be free from chemical dependence.

•McPike ATC screens all patients for co-occurring gambling issues. Patients who have a positive screen are assessed and, if appropriate and willing, provided treatment for their gambling problem.
