Parent Mentor Project

  • Description:

    STIC provides Education Advocacy services to families of children with disabilities to ensure that they receive an appropriate education in the least restrictive environment, as required by law. STIC provides education advocacy assistance to parents through our Parent Mentor Project. In this program, a Parent Mentor Advocate, who is the parent of a child with a developmental disability provides mentoring and support to other parents. The Parent Mentor Advocate will use their experience to assist other parents to navigate the complex special education system. The ultimate goal is to empower and educate parents so that they can become their child’s best advocate
