Comprehensive health care includes physical and laboratory exams, contraceptives, counseling, education, and cancer/STI screening. Communicable disease prevention and surveillance are core functions of the department. All cases of communicable disease receive follow-up to treat and contain the spre ad of disease. Influenza vaccinations are provided annually to over 2,000 individuals. Rabies post-exposure treatment is critical, especially when the animal is not available for testing.
Many services provided at low/no cost. Most insurances are accepted. You can be signed up for FP Benefits program.

Public Health strives to teach the public the importance of proper handwashing, preventing communicable diseases as well as the prevention and treatment of bed bugs, head lice, scabies and ticks.
Delaware County Public Health also offers several rabies clinics around the County starting in the spring.
Programs that protect and improve the health of the population through comprehensive efforts at the community level to prevent, control and eradicate disease and disabilities; eliminate environmental health hazards; promote sanitary living conditions; and recognize, prevent and control conditions in the workplace that constitute health hazards or place workers at risk for accidents.
The NYS Department of Labor operates the Division of Safety and Health, (DOSH), which is responsible for enforcement of NYS Labor Law and Code Rules & Regulations. These cover public safety and health in the private employment sector and occupational safety and health in the public employment sector.
STD Clinic - conducted under contract, provides information, testing and treatment of diseases spread through sexual contract. Brochures are available.
The Bureau of Public Health Nursing is a New York State Department of Health, Certified Home Health Agency working together with community programs and providers improving the health and quality of life for the residents of Suffolk County with many health needs. SBIRT and NARCAN trainings have been completed by the Public Health Nursing team. Both trainings are related to substance abuse. SBIRT is a screening process tool. NARCAN training teaches when and how to administer an aerosol form of the drug naloxone to an individual who is overdosing.
The Broome County Health Department provides technical assistance and response capabilities for accidental discharges/spills of radioactive substances. Provides information regarding possible radioactive emissions of concern. Local contact for questions on radon exposure, testing and remediation.
