Description:The HIV/AIDS Law Consortium (HALC) program provides free legal services to people in our communities who have been impacted by HIV/AIDS. HALC helps people living with HIV/AIDS with many civil (not criminal) legal problems. These legal problems include, but are not limited to: Social Security benefits, health care, end-of-life planning (last wills, living wills, health care proxies, and powers of attorney), housing, public benefits, future child care planning (guardianship, standby guardianship, and adoption subsidies), consumer protection, employment, legal name changes, and individual rights (discrimination, confidentiality, and medical privacy).
If you are living with HIV/AIDS and you have a non-criminal legal problem, please call the HALC attorney directly at 518-462-6765, x340, or toll free at 1-800-462-2922, x340.
The HALC program serves clients living in Albany, Clinton, Columbia, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Hamilton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren, and Washington Counties.
HALC is a collaboration between LASNNY and the Albany Law School’s Clinic and Justice Center. HALC is funded by the AIDS Institute of the New York State Department of Health.
