Description:The Library is proud to work with Madison County Reads Ahead to offer free tutoring to adult learners through three programs: adult basic education (Learn to Read), ESL (English as a Second Language), and TASC Examination preparation (high school equivalency certification, formerly the GED).
Promoting literacy within our community is a goal that we take seriously at Cazenovia Public Library. Literacy programs don’t end at our doorstep. Cazenovia Public Library Literacy Outreach offers family literacy programs and individualized adult education programs, with an emphasis on introducing Library services to new Library users. We strive to create a literacy-rich environment in the Cazenovia area through our Library programs, Literacy Outreach, food pantry partnerships and community projects, such as our “Little Free Library.

Literacy Coordinators Carla Zimmerman and Marli Stahler work with a network of trained volunteer tutors to provide
literacy services on site and at two satellite locations: CazCares Food Pantry and
the New Woodstock Public library. Tutors work one-on-one with learners in three
different programs: Adult Basic Education (ABE/learn to read), English as a
Second Language (ESL), and preparation for the TASC examination (NYS high
school equivalency program, formerly GED). Our Literacy Outreach also acts as a
referral source for educational and career services programs in Madison County.
